A familiar story of volatile prices and the cost of energy impacted on the fortunes of Futura Foods, a major importer of dairy delicacies from Europe, but not enough to knock it off course.
Since its foundation in 1993 the Dursley-based business has grown its market share by gaining a reputation for innovation and bringing new products to the UK, including barrel-aged Feta, Saganaki, Italian specialty cheeses and low-fat salad cheese options.
It has a particular focus on organic products from Scandinavia and Southern Europe and other delights that trip off the tongue include Brie, Camembert, Parmigiano, feta, and manchego.
It was the partnership with Danish dairy company Nordex Food, which took a controlling share in 2013, that helped Futura Foods move into a whole new league that today allows it to describe itself as the UK’s Mediterranean dairy specialists.
