Newland Homes appoints new managing director
Gloucester-based housebuilder Newland Homes has named its new managing director, a promotion it says will support the firm's continued growth.
Gloucester-based housebuilder Newland Homes has announced the promotion of Tom Sheppard as managing director designate, a newly created role to support the continued growth of the business as a leading developer of zero carbon homes in the South West.
The appointment reflects Newland Homes’ commitment to ensuring continuity of leadership while maintaining the values, culture and quality that have underpinned the company’s success for more than three and a half decades.
“David Foreman who co-founded the business in 1991, will begin to step back from day to day running of the company over the coming year while continuing to support the business strategically as executive chairman.
Tom has held senior positions at Newland Homes since 2011, progressing to design director, a role he has held for the past three years, and formerly planning director.
The transition period will see Sheppard working alongside Foreman and the wider leadership team to ensure the continued growth and success of the company, whilst maintaining its longstanding commitment to quality, sustainability and customer satisfaction.
“Newland Homes has built a reputation for quality, zero carbon homes that put the customers’ and communities’ needs at the centre of design and build, and so I’m honoured to be appointed as managing director designate to lead the company into the next chapter,” said Sheppard.
“I’m grateful for the trust that Foreman and the Board have placed in me with this appointment.
“Having spent the last 15 years helping to deliver Newland Homes’ vision through design and planning working alongside developments director Jeremy Drew, I am excited to have the opportunity to broaden my responsibilities and work closely with colleagues across all areas of the business.”
As managing director designate, Sheppard will retain a key role within Newland Homes’ design and planning team, an area in which he has made a significant contribution.
Over the next year, he will become increasingly involved in all areas of finance, commercial and operational aspects of the business.
Foreman said: “Tom has long been an integral part of Newland Homes and has played a major role in shaping the high-quality developments for which we are known. He understands our business, our values and our customers, and I am delighted to see him take this next step.
“This appointment ensures a smooth and well-planned transition as I gradually reduce my day-to-day involvement in the business.”
