MBO secures business - but puts 30 jobs at risk
This story must win the prize for bittersweet tale of the year so far, with the management of an historic Gloucestershire business securing its future, only to put the jobs of tens of staff at risk.
Dear readers,
Welcome to Thursday’s The Raikes Journal. Regulars will know Thursday’s emails are not a full edition, but a single story we think is of interest - and one that it is sometimes paywalled too.
We do that to help pay for what we do - original journalism about Gloucestershire (hard to come by these days) - which is all made possible by our paying subscribers, Founding Partners and Founding Members.
We usually send these features to everyone - even if they are paywalled - to ensure everyone that can be is aware of just what they are missing by not becoming fully paid-up supporters. We hope you understand.
By the way, if you claim your first free pass around the paywall, and down load the app, there are other benefits to using it - not least it will even read the articles to you too! Perhaps think of them as your own podcasts about Gloucestershire.
Best regards,
Andrew Merrell (editor).

By Andrew Merrell.
New owners are in place at a Gloucestershire manufacturing business with a £5 million turnover after management stepped up to buy the firm from American owners and secure its future.
But the move is bittersweet for everyone at the Stonehouse-headquartered firm, which has also announced the move has also put 30 jobs at risk - almost half its workforce.
