Two Rivers Housing has appointed David Greenhalgh to its board of non-executive directors.
Greenhalgh was director of strategic asset management at Magna Housing Association (based in Dorchester) until he retired in 2022.
He was also a former non-executive director for GreenSquareAccord.
In his role at Magna Housing, Greenhalgh was specifically brought in to support the business through a significant transformation.
He was responsible for all aspects of asset management, maintenance and property safety and took the lead on corporate health and safety and business continuity.
Prior to this he was executive director of property services for LiveWest Housing where he worked alongside its property sirector with responsibility for all property maintenance activity and compliance work.
He also held senior roles at Knightstone Housing Association (Weston-super-Mare) including director of property services and assistant director (maintenance and building services) before it merged with DCH to become LiveWest Housing in 2018.
Greenhalgh’s appointment is part of a wider plan by Two Rivers Housing to strengthen and increase the size of its board to support the delivery of it 2024-2027 corporate strategy.
The housing association launched its ‘Delivering #Twogether 2024-2027’ strategy in October 2024. It sets out six key areas of focus for the next three years and has been developed using feedback from its tenants.
Two Rivers Housing, which is headquartered in Newent, manages more than 4,600 homes in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, and nearby Herefordshire.
In its 2024-2027 strategy, the housing association restates its commitment to investing in improving its homes, repairs service, and maintenance programmes.
Greenhalgh’s knowledge and experience will provide valuable insight to the Two Rivers Housing team as it develops its new asset management strategy and reviews key aspects of how it invests in and manages its homes.
Ted Pearce, chair of the Two Rivers housing board, said: “Over the last 12 months, we’ve been listening to our tenants to understand what changes they want to see in the way we manage and invest in our homes.
“They’ve told us that we need to make improvements to our repairs service and that they want to see more investment in our homes, particularly when it comes to making them warmer and more energy efficient.
“This is reflected in our 2024-2027 strategy ‘Delivering #Twogether’.
“David has an in depth knowledge of managing and maintaining homes, developing and delivering asset management strategy and landlord compliance.
“His skills and experience will add real value to the board and help support our homes team as they deliver improvements to our homes and services that our tenants want to see.”
Greenhalgh joined the Two Rivers Housing Board at the beginning of March.
Speaking about his appointment, he said: “I’m really happy to have joined the Two Rivers housing board. The business is going through a considerable change programme, which will improve its homes, services and how it supports its tenants ensuring that they remain at the heart of the organisation.
“I can see that both the board and the executive team are committed to working with tenants to make these changes and will do everything I can to support the team to deliver its new corporate strategy.
“It’s a great time to join the organisation and I am looking forward to working with the team over the coming years.”
