Cirencester Business Awards closing date is today!
After weeks helping with the build up to this incredible event, we can't resist one last chance to look at what's afoot at this year's Cirencester Business Awards, and how you can still be part of it!
This is our second story of the week and fourth in our series doing our best to help draw your attention to the brilliant event that is the Cirencester Chamber of Commerce Business awards 2024.
Even if you can’t enter because your business is not in the GL7 post code, or you live nowhere near the Cotswolds, for those wanting to learn more about exciting companies in Gloucestershire awards like this are a great window of opportunity.
There are 11 categories to enter at the Cirecester Chamber of Commerce’s awards, and among them the sought after title of ethical business - a category guaranteed to throw up some surprises, and sponsored this year by the Bathurst Estate.
Lee Selway, director of Cotswold Lakes Brew Co (pictured below), saw his business walk away winners last year.
“To be crowned the ethical business of the year was a fantastic achievement for Cotswold Lakes Brew Co. and something that we’re extremely proud of.
“To be recognised for our ethical and sustainable business practices provides independent validation that all of our efforts have been worthwhile.
“The Cirencester Chamber of Commerce does an incredible job promoting local businesses and promoting the area, and these awards are a great opportunity to celebrate all of the amazing companies on our door step,” said Selway.
The awards take place this year at the Royal Agricultural University, which is itself sponsoring the Innovation Award.
Teresa North, director of commercial services at the RAU, said: “We are delighted to be sponsoring the Innovation Award this year.
“The RAU places a strong emphasis on entrepreneurialism and innovation and our sponsorship of the Innovation Award ties in well with our own business aspirations.
“Our award-winning Enterprise and Employability Programme provides an inspiring and supportive environment for our students to develop and launch their own business ideas.
“The success of this programme has led to the university being re-accredited, for a second three-year period, as a Centre of National Excellence by the Institute of Enterprise and Entrepreneurs – the only small and specialist university in the UK to be so.
“Our Cotswold Hills wine, which will be served at the business awards, is part of an award-winning social enterprise established by the RAU in 2016 when we took on the tenancy of a six-acre vineyard just outside Cirencester.
“As well as giving our students real life business skills and experience as they are involved in all aspects of the project, from vine to wine sales and new product development, a proportion of the proceeds from sales goes into our own enterprise fund which supports students wanting to start their own businesses.
“We are looking forward to a great evening and wish all the nominees every success.”
If you want to enter, or know someone who should, applications must be submitted by email to awards@cirencesterchamber.org.uk no later than 24 May 2024. You can find out everything you need to know right here.
