Newland Homes has bolstered its construction team with the appointment of Simon Blackburn as site manager.
With a wealth of experience delivering both zero carbon and traditional home builds, Blackburn is leading the team at The Limes in Tetbury, where the company is building 32 zero carbon homes.
Beginning his career as an apprentice joiner, Blackburn also honed his management skills during a move to Australia where he worked in construction recruitment.
After returning to the UK with an ambition to return to site work, he held site management roles with national PLC house‑builders including David Wilson Homes, Barratt Developments and Bellway.
Most recently he was site manager for independent home builder Cotswold Homes, delivering traditional and zero carbon new build properties from starter homes to large executive detached properties.
Blackburn’s commitment to craftsmanship and rigorous site supervision has placed his sites in the top two per cent nationally, having been recognised with two NHBC ‘Pride in the Job’ Awards and a coveted Seal of Excellence.
He said: “The industry is embracing air‑source heat pumps and solar technology, but Newland is pushing zero carbon further than anyone else I’ve seen.
“The culture here balances exacting standards with the time and support to achieve them, and there’s a genuine pride that runs through every trade.
“I’m passionate about creating sites that are positive places to work and deliver first class homes, and I look forward to delivering that at The Limes and Newland Homes’ other sites in the future.”
Associate construction director Ian Hughes said: “Simon’s technical knowledge, award‑winning track record and people first leadership style make him the perfect fit for Newland Homes.
“His appointment underlines our commitment to delivering homes that exceed regulatory benchmarks and set new standards for climate considerate living.”
This press release was sent to Raikes by Newland Homes’ media team on 19 May 2025.
