“We’re thrilled to announce the successful opening of our brand new, modern, efficient cold storage and staff facilities at our Tewkesbury depot,” is how Cotteswold Dairy broke the news on its Facebook page.
The ceremony, at its Tewkesbury headquarters, was a “memorable moment”, opened by second generation chairman Roger Workman.
“Our employees have demonstrated incredible patience and commitment during the disruption, maintaining our valued service levels throughout the construction of the building,” said the post.
George Workman, managing director of the family-owned business, which employs an estimated 400 staff, said: “We are really delighted that we have finally received occupation of our new building, which we have named ‘The Roger Workman Building’ after my father, the son of our founder Harry Workman.
“The new building will provide our staff with much improved facilities, along with helping us to be more streamline and efficient in our operations.
“It will also free up some space to allow us to make further improvements to our production process as we look to further progress into the future.”
The statement went on: “At the heart of everything we do is our purpose: Being at the heart of a responsible and sustainable dairy community. This new building will be the foundation for continuing our mission and a catalyst for securing our longer-term business objectives.”
Justin Young, operations director, said: “The development is a significant milestone in our business strategy and demonstrates our future commitment to the dairy industry.”
