Winners revealed in the Gloucestershire Apprenticeship Awards 2020

For those who have battled to continue to provide apprenticeships and for those apprentices who have kept going themselves through a difficult year, last night was their night.

This was the Gloucestershire Apprenticeship Awards 2020, staged by and its parent company REACH plc.

Brought to life in style through a live stream on Youtubeby host and Gloucestershire legend Steve Knibbs from the BBC, the night still managed to deliver and showcase what talent there is in the county.

“When all the finalists and winners in the judging meeting were selected back in January no one could have imagined we would be here, streaming live to you in your homes in November,” said Mr Knibbs, who said the awards were originally due to take place in March.

The awards are to celebrate another year of inspiring stories of success. They are a celebration of the best and brightest learning and the people helping them achieve and learn.”

Andy Bates, the chief financial officer at Gloucestershire College, which won two awards on the night, said: “Apprenticeships are a really important part of the Gloucester economy.

More than ever in these strange times we are in I think apprentices are going to play a huge part in rebuilding Gloucestershire and helping it back to growth again.”

Huge credit was also paid to the businesses and training providers which have helped not just transform the image of apprentices over the last few years but continue to make them possible during such a difficult year.
