Speculative 27,940 sq ft 400-plus seater office space for Cheltenham

According to the company behind the bid to create desk space for 415 remote workers in the centre of Cheltenham the investment is to help cope with “post-COVID-19 demand” for a new way of working.

Self-styled ‘flexible office space provider’, Clockwise, would not be drawn on how much it would be investing in the Gloucestershire town, but said it was part of a bigger plan that included London, Manchester, Leeds and Cardiff.

The investment in physical space has been pre-empted by ‘five senior hires’ to help manage its expansionadding the Cheltenham space by the end of 2020 and taking its total number of sites under management to 14 and 7,500 desks by the end of 2021.

According to Clockwise predicted post-COVID-19 demandis what is fuelling its plans.

Its new Cheltenham offices will be at Festival House, in what it calls the spa town’s‘central business quarter’ on Jessop Avenue (near to Waitrose).

Clockwise said its timing would position it to take advantage of a rise in demand for flexible working as firms seek to recover from the pandemic. If all goes to plan its portfolio will total more than half a million sq ft of space by the end of 2021.

Senior appointments include Alexandra Brunner, who joins as chief operating officer, having held the role at Native, a property company with £1.7 billion of hospitality assets under management.

Joining as new chief information officer is Gavin Stubbs – previously chief technology officer at development finance company, CDC Group.

James Grabiner, chief financial officer, arrives having previously led the finance team at The Office Group.

Jo Sweeney is the new director of people.
