Written by: Andrew Merrell | Posted 10 September 2020 6:04

Boasting ‘lots of employers and hundreds of jobs’ today (September 11) is the day to be at Kingsholm stadium is those kinds of thoughts are preoccupying your currently.

If they are, it is doubtful you are alone – with the impending end of the Government’s furlough scheme upon us and the jobs figures for Gloucestershire already rising.

Do not be alarmed if you visit the website and click ‘Who will be there’ to be met with a new screen and an image of Gloucester MP Richard Graham.

He is rightly entitled to have his face in the spotlight as he is the driving force behind the event which has helped corral a diverse selection of firms and speakers in one place in a proactive approach to deliver positive help to those at the sharp end of the current economic crisis.

We’ve even embedded a video below of Mr Graham explaining why this year is extra important.

If that doesn’t take your fancy, skip through to the bit from Lance Bradley, chief executive officer of hosts for the day, Gloucester Rugby - which is worth a watch for sure. And it reminds rugby fans that an added perk of attending is the chance to bask in the glory of Kingsholm.

Just to get back to who else is there – as it is not just Mr Graham and Mr Bradley. Headline sponsors include Jobscentre Plus, EDF, Spirax Sarco, the University of Gloucestershire and Western Power Distribution. Names also being promoted include Gloucester City Council, Flexicare, Safran, Raytheon, Dowty and the Royal Navy.

If one Conservative MP is not enough for you, there will be a keynote address from keynote talk by Minister for Employment, Mims Davies MP.

And throughout the day appearances from Gloucestershire MPs Alex Chalk, Laurence Robertson, Richard Graham, and Mark Harper are expected.

Everything will be streamed on the event's website - for those unable to make it.
